Diva Challenge #333, Joey's Weekly Challenge #183 etc....

Guest Post: TanglePod's Juliette Feissinger and Kellie Fellinge
"Cozy"

This weeks challenge is to choose a tangle or two that feel cozy. My initial thought was, of course, to go to my mac 'n cheese patterns, those friendly no-brainers I've collected in my 20 Patterns arsenal.
I didn't do that. I chose "Verve". I love to aura. Auras are cozy. Coffee is cozy. Cat is cozy.
I recently created a couple of sets of tiles/atc's using a new and very budget friendly watercolor palette. This is my first test of how pen friendly the surface is. It feels a little dusty but so far it's not clogging up the pens. My go-to black fine-liner is a .35 Rapidograph technical pen. I also used gelli rolls (blue and dark red) and the purple Staedtler Triplus Fineliner.

9 piece ensemble series
ATC #6 featuring: Ginili
additionally: Prestwood, echo lined Mooka, Striping, Opus, Tipple

Moving right along with my ensemble piece.

It's a String Thing Challenge #212
spiral string
featuring:  Wrapped and Danzer

This is a late addition. I seem to have difficulties getting the IAST challenges done. This week we were to use the pattern Ok-rah as well but I could not figure out how to fit it in. I love "Wrapped". I'll definitely add to my arsenal;-)

"Aimee gets Cozy"

I've taken to keeping my masonite art clip board handy for when my work table is commandeered...
note to self: get a smaller clip boardπŸ˜‰πŸΎπŸ’ž

Thanks so much for stopping by. Your thoughtful and generous comments delight and inspire me;-)

  2. Fabulous colour and design Michele!!! Your Verve is so striking in its simplicity! My favourite is the travelling tangle of Aloha! ❤ I love how you've finished it. It reminds me of birds/feathers.

Michele... I find my watercolour tiles clog my Sakura pigment pens. Do you have any suggestions?? Different pens? Type of watercolour? Or maybe a spray finish on the tile before tangling?

Your clipboard looks just the right size! Lol! My Lilu takes over my lap... thank goodness she let's me rest my practice sketchbook on her body!... or I wouldn't get much tangling done!🐺

    1. Thank you Deanne! I call that Fanning Fescue'sπŸ˜‰ and I'm a bit obsessed with it. The juries still out on this particular watercolor set. I rarely use Microns unless it's 005 and I haven't tried that yet.

  4. Your cozy monotangle, number 6 of the 9 piece-mosaic and expecially your lazy cat are wonderful. I like the shading of the warm colors very much! The traveling tangle with aloha is very beautiful too!

  5. I haven't yet found watercolor that doesn't clog up my pigma micron pens. I really want to because I love the soft colors you used to prepare your tiles. I see Margaret Blank sent you a tile that used my tangle, Aloha. I really like how you finished it.

    1. Thank you Suzanne! I rarely use Microns. I've had a set of Rapidograph technical pens for 20+ years that I use mostly, or Gelli Roll pens for color. I usually don't have clogging issues.

  7. You know, I am also a great fan of watercolored backgrounds. I'm fond of all your backgrounds, which became real masterpieces thanks to your wonderful tanglingwork, especially your Verve looks gorgeous and the tile for Joey brings you closer to a stunning final result. The TT are always a delight to see and I'm glad I have one of you in my special book.
Give Aimee a big hug from me!

    1. Thank you Ria! I love playing around with watercolors. I don't really know what I'm doing so each time it comes out as a nice surprise. The Verve tile was originally started as a Travelling Tangle but I wasn't all that confident about it and set it aside. Funny;-)

  8. Beautiful colors as always, Michele. On the diva tile I could easily get lost in the depths of your verve, but the gems and white accents bring me back to the surface.

  12. The Aloha tile jumps out instantly! It looks energetic, even hectic...like it has ADHD in a good way. And I am anxiously waiting to see all your mosaic tiles 'ensembled'.

    1. Thank you Susie!! that Aloha tile is one of my faves. I do love me some fanning fescu's. I'm looking forward to everyone's ensemble. I've been trying very hard not to make it look like an Opus that's been cut into 9 sections.

    1. Thank you Jean! That tile started out with a whole different plan. First it was an abandonned Travelling Tangle, then it became a testing ground for a variety of pens and I got so caught up the aura-ing. This couldn't have been more Zen;-)
